It's been a long time. A really long time since my last blog. I don't really know what happened and how time has just continued to escape me. (well, you know... other than being a mom of twins). It's been SEVEN months since my last blog post and oh so much has happened. None of which I really want to get into, so I will just give updates of the babies.
Addyson and Bentley are getting so big. I still can't believe they will be one next month. Everyone told us that the first year would go by quickly, but I didn't realize just how quickly it would come. This has been the hardest yet most rewarding year of my life. The twins have challenged me in ways that I never thought possible and I still cannot believe how much I have thrived being a mom of twins. They are magnificent and amazing and teach me so much about myself. They are almost walking (which FREAKS me out tremendously) and they pull up on everything. They say "mama" all the time and they know when we are talking to them. They are engaged and attentive and marvel at everything around them. They are like little human beings and it's pretty amazing to see them develop every single day.
I could go on and on about every single amazing thing they do each day, but that would be so boring (for you, not for me). But I will say that I just love them. I have never known love like this before. I look at them and just get giddy and for no reason. They are the best kids (okay, okay... I know I'm biased). But they really are. They are happy and smile a lot and Addyson is just so goofy. They wake up laughing and it's the most harmonious sounds I've ever heard.
Writing is so cathartic. I really don't know why I do this more often. I really should start writing more. I will try and write more later.
Hope everyone out there is doing well. :) Good night for now.

Things I've learned from being a mom...
I have to admit, I've tried to sit down and blog numerous times, but life doesn't seem to slow down. And when it does slow down for even a minute, that's when I take a minute to eat, do laundry, wash bottles or pee.
Life has been crazy but I wouldn't trade it for anything. The kids are getting bigger and more adorable every single day. They spend more of their time awake and happy and talking to each other and to us, and it's so freaking cute.
So, since time is limited (what else is new?!) I have a few pearls of wisdom to share that I've learned along the way since being a 3 month old mommy (yes, the twins are already 3 months old!!).
1) I've learned how to put on make up and do my hair in less than 10 minutes.
2) I've learned to shower in 15 minutes
3) I would much rather sacrifice sleeping in to take a shower and get ready for the day.
4) I've realized that I can function on 4 hours or less of sleep.
5) I know that no matter how cranky or exhausted I am, when my kids it smile makes my day.
6) I can now eat with one hand while the other arm is holding a baby
7) I hear crying even when my kids aren't crying
8) cloth diapers are the best invention ever
9) I'm officially a member of the mamarazzi. I'm obsessed with taking pictures of these kids
10) twin mommy groups have been my lifeline
11) Setting a schedule and sticking to it has been a saving grace
12) I've realized that eating hot food is overrated.
I'm sure there's lots more I've learned... But this is what I have come up with so far. Life has been exhausting but good. Being a mom of twins is the hardest and most challenging and trying thing J and I have ever done. But it's been amazing watching them grow and change every single day.
This weekend we are going to a twin fall festival party at the pumpkin patch with the San Diego Twins club. I can't wait to take more photos. :)
I hope everyone in baby making world is doing well! For now, I'll leave you with some recent photos of our kiddies... If you want to see more photos of our kiddies... Find me on Facebook or Instagram.
Until next time... XoXo

Both the longest and shortest month of my life...
I can't believe it's been a month. I don't even know where to begin, and I apologize for the lack in blogging lately. We have had our hands full (literally). :)
When people say that having twins is hard, they weren't kidding. J and I went into this pregnancy (and even into motherhood) with both eyes wide open. We educated ourselves; we talked to multiple twin moms (one of whom is J's own mother); we over-prepared and attended all the classes we needed to, bought all the things we needed ahead of time, got our nursery ready with ample time to spare; we went on vacation and had our own baby-moon. But regardless of everything we did, there is NOTHING, and I mean nothing, that could have prepared us for having these twins. Just when I thought a twin pregnancy was hard, being a twin mom is a million times harder.
Don't get me wrong, the kids are great and we have had a lot of help in the past 4 weeks, but the lack of sleep, the endless feedings, the numerous diaper changes, the constant crying is out of control. This newborn stage just solidifies that we will NOT be going through this again. Once is enough for us, and I think God knew that, because he blessed us with two kids at once. It's like playing the guessing game with these kids as far as trying to figure out what they want... They cry, and we go through the checklist of things they possibly need- did they eat? (or when did they eat last?), are they wet? Or do they need a diaper change? or do they need to burp? It's a good day (or hour) if we can figure out what they need by going off the checklist; it's a bad day if we go through the checklist and they are STILL crying.
Other than the guessing game, the kids are growing and becoming cuter everyday. They got back to their birth weight two weeks after they were born. So we don't have anything to worry about there. They are eating like they are supposed to and are pooping and sleeping as much as they should be. We couldn't ask for anything more, really.
With that, I hope everyone out there in Blog land is doing splendidly. I'll write more often, I promise. J and I are in the process of creating more of a routine for these kids... So hopefully, it will leave more time for other "life" aspects (you know, like eating, showering, blogging etc).
For now, I will leave you with a blog that includes some photos from a sneak peek of our newborn photo shoot. Enjoy! XoXo

They're here and they are perfect!
Dear readers,
I apologize for not writing sooner; we have had our hands just a tiny bit full. I know a few of you have been wondering where we've been or if we've had the babies yet, so I am proud to announce the birth of Addyson Marie and Bentley Michael!
Here are their stats:
Bentley Michael was born on July 16, 2012 at 11:16 pm.
He weighed in at 6 pounds 5 ounces and measured 17 3/4 in length
Addyson Marie was born on July 16, 2012 at 11:17pm
She weighed in at 7 pounds 1 ounce and measured 18 3/4 in length
So, 13 pounds of baby in my belly. It's no wonder I was so uncomfortable and felt huge at the end of my pregnancy. The labor and delivery process was nothing I had ever imagined and it is safe to say that J and I will NOT be going through this again. Now, don't get me wrong, we love our two kids and they are perfect in every way, but it was such a trying pregnancy and an even more challenging birth. Despite the fact that both babies were head down and Bentley was Baby A and scheduled to make his appearance into the world first the ENTIRE pregnancy, Addyson decided to be extra difficult and try to push her way out first. She was further down at my 35 week ultrasound, which changed her position to Baby A. Which proved to make birth extra, extra challenging for me.
So, bear with me because this blog is going to be a little lengthy...
As you all know, both J and I were extremely anxious to have these babies here. So, starting at 36 weeks, I was doing everything we needed to do to induce labor- taking baths in lavender, consuming primrose oil capsules twice a day, going on numerous walks for miles and hours at a time, sex... you name it, and we were trying it. To our surprise, nothing worked for awhile; however, the day I went into labor, J and I went for a two hour walk (to get lunch and some Slurpees) and surprisingly, my contractions started to get stronger and closer together. Once we got home, though... my contractions slowed way down and got further apart. So, around 8:00pm, we went for another walk around the neighborhood and again, my contractions started to increase. We walked for another hour and by this time, my contractions were five and half minutes apart and had been that for an hour. We got home, called my doctor and they told me to come in within the hour. We took a shower, loaded up our car and headed over to the hospital.
Once we got there, they do a quick check on me to see how far I am dilated and then do an ultrasound to see the position of the babies. Thankfully, I was dilated to a four which means they were able to admit me.
To make an extremely looooong story short, I will give you highlights (and I am not sure how much time I have because I am sure the kids will start fussing soon)...
1) I was admitted at 11:30pm Sunday night, July 15th.
2) I was dilating one centimeter about every 2-3 hours
3) I couldn't eat once I was admitted (grr....) since the last time I ate was at 7:30pm that night.
4) The epidural hurt like a bitch and for those people that say the epidural makes it so that you have an "enjoyable" delivery, lied.
5) When people tell you that you get used to your hoo-hahh hanging out because you're being poked and prodded constantly- so true.
6) Addyson decided to not only try and come out first, but she was facing the wrong way causing me to have the most intense back labor ever.
7) Every time I pushed, both heads were trying to squeeze through the birth canal causing pain each time.
8) I pushed for TWO hours without much success or progress and I started to break down in tears and finally had to call mercy.
9) Doctor came in and we talked about delivering via c-section.
10) Finally decided to have a c-section because after each push, my back pain was too much to handle.
11) Kids were born (at the times I specified above).
12) I was in labor from start to finish for about 20 hours and it sucked.
This was just the delivery process. The recovery blog will have to come another day...
For now, I will leave you with pictures of our oh-so-cute kids. Don't you just want to eat them up!?
Hope everyone else is doing great. And no matter how difficult or hard the TTC and pregnancy process was, I wouldn't change a thing because we have the cutest kids ever.

What I will miss the most...
Okay, so before I do the countdown of things I will miss from being pregnant with these two rugrats... I thought I'd give just a quick update.
So, as of yesterday, I made it to 36 weeks! I feel like I have done my due diligence to keeping these babies cooking. Now, I just want to have them already! Things seem to be progressing, but as you can remember from my previous blogs, J and I are all about instant gratification. So although these nine months haven't been as instantly gratifying as we would have liked, we have definitely been patient... I had an appointment today and doctor says I am 90% effaced (cervix is thinned out) and now I am dilated to a 2. So, definitely progressing in the right direction. :) The waiting is KILLING us, but we know (well, at least I do) that the longer they stay in, the bigger, healthier and stronger they will be. :) So we will continue to wait to see when these two will make their appearance into the world.
Okay, so onto my countdown. Since my blogs have been things I've missed since getting pregnant or things I've disliked about this pregnancy, I figured I would pay homage to things I will miss, so I can try and keep things positive and upbeat (hey, better late than never, right?)
1) Not having a period: pretty fantastic if you ask me. No tampons, no bleeding, no cramps- for 9 (actually 10) whole months??! It's been amazing!
2) Feeling/seeing the babies move: It's pretty cool to see them show off their dance moves in my belly and feeling them move all around has been an experience I can't explain. I try and get J to feel them all the time and the look on her face when she does is one that I wish I could bottle up and keep forever. Her baby blues get all big and she just looks so proud. It's really so cool to see her get so excited.
3) Eating what I want and not feeling guilty about it: I have loved indulging in my favorite foods, snacks, treats, sweets and not even feel bad about it. So far, I've gained approximately 26 pounds and it's been nice to not have to think about weight gain this entire pregnancy.
4) The attention: I know, kind of weird, right?! But I have gotten A LOT of compliments this pregnancy. How great I look, how I wear pregnancy well, how amazing it is that I can still move around with ease (ha! Have I got all them fooled) while carrying twins..etc... So I will miss the niceties thrown my way when I'm walking around in the grocery store or the mall..
5) All the help I've been getting: J has been a trooper picking up the slack since I've been put on bed rest. Shes taken care of the meals, she's been driving, she's taken care of Dallas' (our dog) needs... It's been nice that she's stepped it up. And not to mention my parents- they have brought meals over a few times as well so that we have food and they take Dallas off our hands every once in awhile so that she can get some exercise.
This is all I can think of right now (pregnancy brain has LITERALLY taken over my life). But I'll add more as they cross my mind.
I sure I have babies soon. I'll blog more later. Hope everything is going great for everyone else out there. Until next time, friends!

It's the Final Countdown!
Let's just get down to the nitty gritty...
At yesterday's OB appointment, my OB tells us that I have some changes in my cervix and that I am 1-2 centimeters dilated. I think I may have cried had he told me (again!) that I had no changes. But I'm happy to say, things are progressing (FINALLY!).
Now, onto reality... I am a little terrified (okay, A LOT terrified) of the unknown... And I am nervous for delivery. I am so excited to finally see Addyson and Bentley and I can't wait to kiss them and hug them and have them become the best of friends with Dallas (our Golden Retriever), but pushing out two babies... Eeks, seems scary and a little nerve wracking.
I guess I just need people to tell me that I can do it and that my body is made to do this... And since I'm not, I'm second guessing myself and I am beyond frightened... Of what, exactly? Not really sure...
Anyway, I'm so happy to report that things are finally moving forward.. I'll write more later.

All's Quiet on the Western Front
I had my doctor's appointment on Wednesday, and I'm happy (well, kind of) to report that there aren't many updates. I had to see the nurse practitioner this time around because my doctor wasn't in the office, and she decided that she would do an ultrasound and check my cervix since she read through my file and knew I had been put on bed rest.
So she takes me into the ultrasound room, and checks the heart beats, measures the babies and then she goes for the cervix. As she was feeling around, I thought.. Damn, she's definitely not a lesbian and she's certainly not a man, because it was sooo painful and she was not at all gentle. And she says, "wow... Your cervix is really high up there, because I can't even find it. Which I guess is a good sign." So she re-positions herself and tries again.. And she goes, "okay... There it is. And good news: it's still really closed."
Obviously, being 34 weeks, that's what I was hoping to hear, but man... I am getting antsy and becoming more miserable as each day passes. I just have 11 more days until I am in the clear and the time could not go any faster.
Thank goodness things are progressing how they should be though. My next ultrasound will be scheduled for 36 weeks and I am anxious to see how big the babies are measuring. At the rate that they have been growing, they should be about 6 pounds by the next time I see them. Crazy! Especially considering I've gained just 22 pounds so far this entire pregnancy. And trust me, I'm eating everything in sight.
I'll report more as time gets closer. Hope all is well out there for the rest of you. ;)
